This 1979 Pontiac Trans AM was refurbished back in 2014. Only 2 owners in its lifetime and was very well taken care of. Work consisted in replacing the original engine with a 6.6L (403ci) engine (K-code/RPO80) and also the transmission was replaced with a 3-speed automatic. The car is as original as possible.
The professional 2-stage black respray is in very good condition and is complimented by a functional ram air 'Shaker Hood', 'Bird' decal, fender flairs and 17” Trans AM 'snowflake' alloy wheels with BFGoodrich radials. The refurbished black vinyl interior is also in very condition. It contains a center console, 3-spoke wheel, 'turned' dash and full gauge package. Convenience features include: A/C, tilt wheel, tinted glass, smoked glass T-tops and Sony AM/FM/MP/CD changer stereo system.
These motors as the replacing one, sourced from GM's Oldsmobile division, had cast iron heads, 2.02/1.55 valves, hydraulic lifters and a Rochester Quadrajet. They produced 185bhp/315lb/ft and were backed by the GM 350 Turbo Hydra-matic 3-speed automatic gearbox. Trans AMs with this engine/trans combination were factory fitted with 2.73:1 gears and the chassis is equipped with power steering and power-assisted disc/drum brakes.
All the fluids were changed in preparation for the sale.
